Washington Electric Cooperative’s Board of Trustees met in regular session on August 27, 2020, at the co-op’s office in Marietta. The following items were discussed:
- The cooperative’s capital credits estate retirements, monthly safety report, and new member list were reviewed and approved.
- Director of Finance and Administration BJ Allen presented the June 2020 financial report, which was approved.
- The board approved a resolution allowing for $110,100.77 in unclaimed capital credits to be reallocated to current active members of the cooperative.
- Board members discussed and approved updates to Policy 203.
- General Manager Jeff Triplett provided reports on the engineering and operations departments, virtual training opportunities, Covid-19 impacts and actions, and progress on the co-op’s annual goals and initiatives.
- Board members discussed and passed a resolution approving the 2020 Buckeye Power Requirements Study.
- Director of Marketing and Member Services Jennifer Greene presented the results of Washington Electric’s 2020 Member Attitude Survey and provided a demonstration of the co-op’s new website.
- Information Technology Specialist Allen Casto provided a report on the co-op’s metering and technology projects, including an update on meter exchanges taking place in the Rouse and South Olive substation areas.
- Board members watched a video discussion on the board’s role in safety. The video is part of an educational board governance series provided by the National Rural Electric Cooperatives Association.
The Board of Trustees also met in regular session on Sept. 24, 2020, and discussed the following items:
- The cooperative’s capital credits estate retirements, monthly safety report, and new member list were reviewed and approved.
- Director of Finance and Administration BJ Allen presented the July 2020 financial report, which was approved.
- Director of Safety and Compliance Josh Jump presented and the board approved modifications to Policy 504, bringing the co-op into compliance with the new federal Commercial Driver’s License Drug and Alcohol Clearinghouse and further clarifying the co-op’s procedures for reasonable suspicion testing.
